Pokhara – Nepali Congress leader Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has expressed confidence that his faction will receive justice from the court amid the ongoing dispute within the party over its special general convention and leadership.>
Mahat, who is aligned with former Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, made the remarks at an event in Pokhara while discussing the dispute surrounding the party’s 15th General Convention.>
According to Mahat, his faction decided to seek judicial review after efforts to resolve disagreements over the convention through the party’s internal mechanisms failed.>
He argued that an earlier court ruling contained an error and said the Supreme Court’s decision to allow a review had strengthened his side’s position.>
“We have stood on the side of truth. Truth will certainly prevail,” Mahat said. He added that he believes the judiciary will provide justice and that the rule of law remains intact in Nepal.>
Mahat also called for the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention to be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, with respectful participation from all sides.>
He said the failure to reach agreement on the disputed issues had ultimately led his faction to seek judicial intervention.>
Mahat also rejected reports that former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba would attend the opening ceremony of the 15th General Convention, which is scheduled to begin on October 4. He said there was no possibility of Deuba attending the opening ceremony.>
